It’s Winter, Now Is It Time To Improve Your Golf Swing?

December 29, 2009 by Parshooters

As the new year fast approaches us it’s time to get serious about thinking “How can I improve my golf swing.” For us who lives in the Northeast this time of  year isn’t so easy. However, there are places you can go to swing the golf club during the winter months other than being outside.

Many cities now have indoor driving ranges and after you cool off you can catch a couple of drinks at their sports bar attached to the range. You can go to anyplace that has driving nets or if you have enough room in your basement to swing a golf club you can set up your own private net.

Another place you can go to is any Golf Galaxy retail establishment. There you will find the latest inventory of top brands golf equipment and supplies. There you will also receive help from Your Certified Personal Coaches who are waiting to deliver a Tour-tuned method built from a composite of over 150 professional instructors.

A clients swing is tuned to produce consistent ball-striking results. Tee to green, advanced skills that flows from their own solid foundation.  Every step of the way  the guidance and encouragement of a Certified Personal Coach turns theory into individual success.

Similar to Golf Galaxy you will find another retail establishment by the name of Golftec. Here you will find a computerized system known by their own name. It specializes in improving your golf swing over a period of time from 3-12 months. It’s goal focused and manages your lessons from full swing competence to on the golf course mindset of accomplishment.  You can visit at www.golftec.com

It provides full details on Lessons + Practice + Club Fitting + Game Tracking.

At golftec you will get a full review of your initial golf swing evaluation. The representative will ask you a few questions up front about your golfing history and goals that you might have to improving oneself. Then he will hook you up to the computer to analyze all of your golf swing angles and swing speed.

After a half dozen swings the computer averages it out and will show you a clear video of your golf swing. It emphasis your swing by color coding the different angles of your swing plane. Each color represents good to poor quality. The entire evaluation is stored online and given to you to help yourself when you are practicing.

The system does allow the golfers to compare their golf swings to the top PGA touring pros. After you’ve figured out how to improve your golf swing,  the system then reminds the golfers with a beep warning that goes off if they fall back into a habit that worsens their golf swing mechanics.  Such as taking their eyes off the ball. You can pinpoint where the golf swing goes inefficient.

For most amateurs there is usually three main components of a golf swing that needs to be worked on the most:

  • 1. Proper Grip – your fingers need to be holding the club in a certain position which should help hold the angle through impact.
  • 2. Set up – stand taller with your arms in a more neutral position (or slightly outward)
  • 3. Ball Position – move it up a little in your stance and you won’t feel cramped leading through impact.

Using an instructional system proven in over 1.5 million lessons with 200,000+ clients since 1995, GolfTEC is the world leader in golf improvement. From tee-to-green, clients gain skills to reach their shot-making and score-reduction goals.  GolfTEC’s patented g-Swing System is unique in the golf industry.

The system offers a fact-based approach that eliminates the guesswork from the teaching process. With an approach targeted at active and aspiring players,  GolfTEC moves clients past frustrating plateaus in skill and score to reach their goals.

Overall most people according to the survey are satisfied with GolfTec and the service they provide. They are in the business of selling lesson plans.  They will show you how to practice better so that you can groove a perfect swing from memory.

This brings us to the key point of where you need to practice. I recommend that you allocate a considerable amount of your practice time to focusing on making the correct swing changes by watching yourself on video or in the mirror. For some golfers the absence of ball flight can be a tough hurdle to overcome. However, once you begin to let go of the results and start to focus more on the process, you tend to discover that your swing not only changes more quickly, but it often does so with less frustration!

Very few of us are able to hit the necessary number of poor shots on the driving range without reverting back to what is comfortable (i.e. incorrect) in order to see better short-term results. Hitting in a controlled environment with cameras that can pick up every motion in your swing and allow you to play them back in slow motion does allow you to focus on the process and helps you to make the connection between what you feel and what should be the correct swing plane.

In the end, your pace of improvement relies on many factors:

  • It completely depends on how you practice.
  • How much time you devote to making a change.
  • How you attempt to make that change.
  • Where you attempt to make that change. Do it in an environment that caters to utilizing your time in the most effective manner.
  • Is it effective to challenge yourself to making golf swings that are well short of the desired position.
  • If you’re able to develop a feel for where that shorter point is, making the change becomes much easier and requires less time.

As we enter the off-season in many regions, the next three to four months offers the opportunity to make effective, long-term swing changes that will stay with you for years to come. Built on this basis of skilled instructions and advanced technology, every Golf Center offers indoor, climate-controlled conditions. Allowing for year-round instructions in a safe, comfortable environment.

I suggest working with your Coach to develop an off-season practice regimen (if you don’t already have one) and sticking to it in the up coming months. When next season starts you’ll be glad you did.

It seems to me that you know something about ebooks. Ebooks makes for great reading and you can find pointers that can help you improve your golf swing.
That’s if you follow what is being written and not deviate into your old habits or comfort level of your present swing. Changing one’s golf swing is one of the hardest things to accomplish. It’s not for everyone! I still recommend for those just beginning, to get lessons from a licensed professional.

Hey, I really love your post. I wish to say that, for both starters and even those who had been playing golf for quite some time, learning how to play and how to improve your game should always be of great importance to you. Just like any other game, the best is always yet to come in every game.

Often, the best games are said to be a product of both learning the fundamentals of the game while at the same time combining it with practice.

I need not say this again but we all know that practice makes one perfect – just like any endeavor, practicing will help you improve on what you are doing. Once you learn how to play golf, you will get many opportunities to network, meet new people, and get plenty of exercise as well.
